Temple Football Recruiting Update

Temple currently has 5 recruits and 247Sports recently updated their rankings to the following:

⭐⭐⭐QB Matthew Duncan

⭐⭐⭐ WR Robert Longerbeam

⭐⭐⭐ DE Dyshier Clary

⭐⭐ LB Clyde Washington

⭐⭐ Alex Odom

Longerbeam is the highest rated player so far in the class receiving an 82 overall rating from the recruiting service. I prefer 247Sports over Rivals or ESPN because I know that in order to receive a rating, someone is reviewing film. I am not convinced Rivals or ESPN does that for every player. 247Sports has a very large staff with a lot of people looking over a lot of film. I think they do the most comprehensive work of all the recruiting services.

That being said, Longerbeam will likely end up getting more interest from P5 programs as will Alex Odom. I think our class is stronger than it looks right now. Clyde Washington just received an offer from Central Michigan and will probably stay on the MAC/AAC range in terms of offers.

Rod Carey will be hosting his football camps next month and I anticipate most of our commitments will come following those camps in the proceeding months. That’s how Temple has done it over the years and that’s how they will continue to do so. The early signing period also forces recruits to commit sooner as spots fill up before December.

We will see the recruiting class really begin to take shape over the next month or so. I am hoping to see some OL/DL soon, you can never have enough lineman. One thing I cannot criticize Collins for on the recruiting trail was that his only full recruiting class , which happened in 2018, actually had a fair amount of OL/DL.

We will see what Rod Carey and the crew can come up with.
