Temple Football Recruiting Update

The Recruiting Trail Heats Up

Temple coaches have been working hard on the recruiting trail as well as their prospect summer camp in recent weeks. They’ve been offering a ton of athletes of late including prospects in the 2021 and 2022 classes.

Currently the class stands at 11 commits and several more are expected to join the Owls family in the coming days. It is a big recruiting time period across the country. The quiet period has begun and spots are filling up on FBS rosters. With the new signing period beginning in December now, prospective athletes are now more under pressure to make their college choice or risk their spot fill up.

New Commits

Since the last recruiting update on 6/5, Temple has added 5 new players. There are several intriguing players on this newcomer list.

Liridon Mujezinovic, OL, Netherlands

The European prospect joins the Owls as a raw, but big talent, standing at 6’8″ and 280lb. 247Sports national scouting analyst Barton Simmons called Mujezinovic a completely raw talent that will require a lot of work, but if he does develop, could become a big time OL. UMass and Cinci saw enough to offer well before Temple did. However, the Owl coaches were able to swing him our way in recent weeks.

Mujezinovic has been given a 79 overall rating by 247Sports. He is also a 2 star on Rivals.

Demerick Morris, DT, Chicago

Morris is a 6’3″ 285lb DT with a lot to like. He holds offers from essentially every MAC program with some CUSA sprinkled in. He has a lot of power in his rush and gets off the line of scrimmage quick. The coaching staff has been on him since 2018, watching and waiting for him to develop. They first offered him while at NIU and stayed on him as they transitioned to Temple. This is a guy they really like a lot and if you watch his Hudl below you can see why.

Morris has been given an 80 overall rating by 247Sports. He is also a 3 star on Rivals.

Miles Zietek, Germany

Another European offensive lineman, Zietek stands at 6’5″ and 265lb. He has been playing football for several years and is a bit more developed than Mujezinovic.

Barton Simmons, the 247Sports National scout had this to say:

The most convincing of all line players was Miles Zietek , a 1.95m tall, 120kg man from Germany. With only a few years of football experience, Zietek demonstrates outstanding footwork. He has a natural feeling of exploiting his full size and playing well. On Saturday, he played like a recruit at FBS level

Zietek has been given an 83 overall rating by 247Sports. He has been given 2 stars on Rivals.

Trebor Pena, NJ

A local athlete out of Ocean Township HS in NJ, Pena is a 5’10” 170lb athlete who runs a 4.4 40 time and has quick change of pace. His highlight film is full of him simply gliding past his covering defenders. He has great hands and really looks dynamic with the ball in his hands. A true playmaker, Pena has legitimate top-tier talent that could attract some P5 colleges. He holds offers from the military academies and Kent State with other schools ready to pounce.

Hudl

He has been given an 85 rating by 247Sports and becomes tied with Robert Longerbeam as Temple’s top ranked commit.

Deonte “DJ” Woodbury, NJ

Woodbury is a very intriguing athlete. He made Group 1 first team in both basketball and football. He is a lesser known recruit than some of the others but he received his offer back in April and committed on the 24th. His Hudl is listed below if you want to take a look.

A gifted athlete, Woodbury comes to Temple as an upside below-the-radar recruit.

Other Recruits

Some of the more recently offered players include:

  • Preston Zachman, LB
  • Chevez Trask, DE
  • Darian Varner, DT/OT
  • Garrett Williams, WR/DB
  • Brad Small, LB
  • Bryce Thoman, OL/DL
  • Neche Ugwuozor, ATH, Netherlands
  • Trey Bedosky, OL/DL

More Commits Expected

As stated above, Temple is expected to add more recruits this week. Temple is currently ranked with the 77th overall class on 247Sports and 67th overall according to Rivals. Both have athletes that are unranked on their respective lists. With new additions, the rankings will fluctuate as the weeks progress.

As always, I will try to update things periodically.
